What to Expect
It is not easy visiting a new church. Whether you are new to church or new to this particular church the issues are often the same…
- Will I fit in here?
- Will the people be friendly? (but perhaps not too friendly?)
- Will they ask me something I may not want to share?
- What do they really believe and do here?
- Am I welcome if I don’t believe the same things?
We try to ensure that CCHK is welcoming without making you feel too conspicuous. If you wish to sit near the back, simply listen and leave, no one will chase you down! For your first few visits you will be given a yellow name badge. This is to help us identify you as our guest. If you plan on returning to worship at CCHK let us know and we will have a regular name badge prepared for you.
You are not expected to participate in the financial offering, which is for those who are committed to the church of Jesus Christ and his ministry. If you are willing to fill out the information form you may place it in offering bag when it comes by.
If you have children they are welcome in our comprehensive Sunday School program which meets during the hour of worship. If your children are a bit shy about being in a new place they are also welcome to stay with you in adult worship until they feel comfortable going to Sunday School without you. Or, you may accompany your child to Sunday School the first few times to help them get acquainted with their classroom, teacher and new friends.
If you can stay for a cup of tea or coffee after worship that is the best opportunity for us to get acquainted. Everyone at CCHK remembers what it was like those first couple of Sundays and most are good about making others feel welcome. It has been said that people come to church for all sorts of reasons but stay for one reason - the friendships they make. We hope you will make many friends at CCHK. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to speak with our pastors or any church member after worship. You can also contact the church office.
