Youth Ministry Update

Last week Spectrum kicked off our new series, “Dealing with Issues” where we examined the Media and looked at the messages that the world is broadcasting.  We also had a youth ministry meeting on Sunday, where parents and those interested in youth ministry had a chance to hear more about the program, where we’re headed from here, and ask some of the questions that they had.  We also had a chance to introduce our two new youth volunteers, Lillian and Sylvia, who will be helping out with the youth program.  It was an awesome meeting, very informative and a great way for each of us to share our thoughts!

This Friday, we’ll be continuing our series and looking at money, for the Bible says in Matthew 6: “where our treasure is, there our heart WILL BE also.”  One’s treasure, time and talents are a great indicator of what we love and prioritize, but where we place those things can also indicate what we WANT to place as number one.  As issues go, this is a great one to talk about, and often youth don’t see the relevance that it has with their lives.  Please pray for us as we talk about this important area with the youth.

Next week on the 19th, there will be Resound, this time being hosted by Kowloon IBC out near Kowloon Tong.  There will be a BBQ from 5:30 with two charter buses leaving from Admiralty Station at 5pm (Exit B I believe).  We hope to be on that bus, so aim to be there by 4:50!  There will be buses from Kowloon Tong MTR station to KIBC, so youth can take the MTR there and catch a bus to the location.  We are currently working on the details for returning to the Ministry Centre.

Lastly, we also are running a baking competition for the youth on the day after, Saturday the 20th of March in the afternoon.  Youth will be forming teams of 3-4 and baking, with a final taste test and maybe some frisbee afterwards.  Prizes will be awarded for the winners!  This is a great chance for youth to invite some friends and eat some (hopefully) great food!

Prayer Life

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, (NIV)
Dear God, there are times when I think I am indestructible and I forget to rest enough. Also life can be so busy and noisy that I don’t seem to have time to find any quietness. This part of Psalm 23 reminds me that you know me better than I know myself. May I always listen to you and not allow myself to get pushed and buffeted by the expectations of the world. Please enable me to balance my busyness with time out with you. Amen.  - Psalm 23:2
